Public Affairs

THE INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTER

The Dar America Information Resource Center (IRC) holds a comprehensive collection of books, audio visual resources and reference material on the United States, including titles on American history, geography, literature, politics, government, culture and society. The IRC also offers free access to leading electronic databases such as Lexis-Nexis, Factiva, and GaleNet, as well as a selection of periodicals and U.S. government-produced publications and reports.


The IRC distributes books, brochures, specialized journals and information packets, as well as U.S. government policy statements and selections of press articles on current issues.
Dar America also hosts weekly forum discussions on U.S.-related topics and viewings of selected documentary and feature films that highlight diverse aspects of U.S. society and values. The viewing is followed by discussions about how the films portray the Unites States.

The Public Affairs Section maintains the Information Resource Center to support information requests from Moroccan audience. Using state of the art technology, including CD-ROMs and on-line data bases, the IRC provides updated information about the United States to Moroccan government officials, academics and journalists.

The Public Affairs Section also provides many educational and cultural services and works closely with the Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (MACECE). It also works closely with other sections of the U.S. Mission and with many Moroccan organizations to encourage broaden understanding of the United States and its relationship with Morocco. It also sponsors seminars, exhibits, speakers, and other programs in which Moroccans and American can share ideas and information on a wide variety of issues.

American Corners

American Corners are partnerships between the Public Affairs Section of the United States mission and Moroccan host institutions. Corners are open to the general public. The extensive library collections and lectures about America at the Corners help Moroccans learn more about American culture and the outstanding educational and business opportunities in the United States.
