List Of Hospitals And Physicians In Morocco

An American citizen who requires medical attention or hospitalization can contact the U.S. Consulate General in Casablanca for information on available physicians and hospitals. The U.S. Consulate General may not recommend any particular doctor, but can provide a list of several doctors and medical centers from which to choose. Consular officers visit Americans who may be in need of assistance. If requested to do so, the Consular Officer can also notify the family in the United States and communicate any requests for funds from home. The U.S. Consulate General has no funds to assist with hospital or physicians' fees.

The Social Security Medicare Program does not provide for payment of hospital or medical services outside of the United States. The Veterans Administration will only pay hospital and medical service outside the United States if you are a veteran with a service-related disability.

Some insurance companies offer coverage for serious illness or death abroad. Therefore, before taking up residence abroad, it is advisable to learn which medical services or health insurance plans provide coverage overseas. If your health insurance policy provides this coverage, be sure to carry your insurance policy identity card as proof of such insurance. You may also wish to keep a supply of insurance claim forms. The U.S. Government cannot pay for hospital or medical services for Americans overseas.

The U.S. Consulate General assumes no responsibility for the professional ability or reputation of the persons or medical facilities whose names appear on the following lists in the main cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Fez, Meknes, Agadir and Tangier in Morocco.  The Health Unit has compiled the following list of health care providers. Practitioners are included after review by the Regional Medical Officer or Nurse Practitioner.

This list is not meant to be exhaustive or definitive nor does it represent either a guarantee of competence or endorsement by the Department of State or the U.S. Embassy or the U.S. Consulate General. It does indicate that the American community has utilized them in the past. Retention on this list depends on a combination of factors including availability, training, and positive assistance in previous consultations, etc. Patient input, both positive and negative, regarding experience with local health care providers, is always welcome and provides additional information to assist in expanding or contracting this list.
